Class will utilize diverse methods in an effort to explore new territory. We will engage in simple and rigorous improvisational situations to destabilize our dancing selves. We will rely on and trust one another as necessary participants in our quest. We will seek out physical intelligence and end with full out dancing that is active, exciting, and present.
Monday July 24th, 7:15-8:45pm
CONTEMPORARY DANCE AND FITNESS STUDIO, Montpelier Vermont.
Thursday July 27th 12:15-1:45pm
NORTH END STUDIO, Burlington Vermont.

In this workshop we will take time to look at, touch, and move our skeletons- focusing on the shoulder girdle. Aided by external visual aides (drawings, photos, 'hambone' the skeleton) we will locate and discuss commonly referenced anatomical landmarks within the Pilates repertoire. We will see and experience how we are able to slide our scapula, rotate and lift our collarbones, and find internal and external rotation of the humerus bones. Finding a clearer understanding of the bone rhythms underlying movement will allow us to move more fully, release tension in all those 'stuck' places, and work harder where we need to. We will work individually and in partners, there will be plenty of time for questions. Come prepared to move. This workshop is appropriate for beginning or advanced students as well as teachers interested in deepening their practice and their cueing techniques.
Early Bird Cost is 60$ before July 1st for the 2.5 hour workshop, $75 after July 1st
